ISLAMABAD: The federal government is planning to begin COVID vaccination for people aged below 18 in the country as efforts to inoculate the general public are being expedited in wake of the fourth virus wave in the country, ARY NEWS reported.  According to sources privy to the decision mulled over by the authorities, the federal government is planning to vaccinate people aged below 18 and a decision in this regard would be made by next week. “In the first phase, vaccination will be approved for people in the age bracket of 15 and 18 while in the second phase, people aged between 12 and 15 will be inoculated,” they said adding that NADRA has also been consulted on how the process could be facilitated. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has reportedly filed a legal case against defamatory online content following her husband Raj Kundra’s arrest in a pornography case, reported Time of India. According to the Indian legal news outlet Bar and Bench , Shilpa Shetty has not just filed a complaint against several media houses but also against defamatory content being published on social media sites including Facebook and Instagram. Shetty has reportedly named about 29 media personnel as well as media houses in her case for ‘false reporting and maligning her image’ after her husband Kundra’s arrest on July 19. KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has convened a press briefing on Friday after the top provincial task force on Covid announced stricter lockdown due to increasing infection positivity and delta variant-led carnage, ARY News reported. ISLAMABAD: A district and session court in Islamabad on Friday directed police to submit challan against Usman Mirza and other accomplices until September 10, in a case related to sexual harassment and torture of a couple, ARY News reported. KARACHI: The finance ministry has Thursday released the Monthly Economic Update & Outlook report wherein noting the upward trend in economic revival and consistent activity with increased remittances and tax revenues, ARY News reported. The monthly economic report published in July said there is 27 per cent surge in remittances from July last year to June with $29.4 billion pouring in the country under this head. During financial year 2021, the report said, exports increased by 18.3 percent to $25.3 billion. Last year the total exports stood $21.4 billion. KARACHI: A six-year-old girl, who went missing from Karachi’s Korangi, found dead after the rape, said police on Wednesday, ARY News reported. ISLAMABAD: The administration of Rawal Dam has Wednesday decided to lift the spillway gates as the water reserve has almost reached its limit due to torrential rains that lashed the federal capital overnight with 330-millimetre volume, ARY News reported. MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Four people including were gunned down over an old enmity near Chaut Dheran Pull in Mandi Bahauddin, ARY News reported. According to the local police, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing over a vehicle, resulting in the death of four people. LAHORE: Pro-Jahangir Tareen group MPA Nazir Chohan has been arrested by police on Tuesday, ARY News reported. The arrest has been made in a first information report (FIR) registered by Adviser to the prime minister on accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar at Lahore’s Race Course police. MPA Nazir Chohan was taken into custody near Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Plaza. On the other hand, a meeting of the pro-Jahangir Tareen lawmakers has been called in to discuss the arrest of MPA Nazir Chohan. The meeting will be held in Lahore to discuss the future course of strategy. The case against Chohan was registered under sections 506 (punishment for intimidation), 189 (threatening public servant), 298 (hurting religious sentiments) and 153 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
