Sattar says he has no role in selection of candidates
ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar says he has no role in the selection of party candidates for the coming general elections.
He was talking to the media after his appearance before the Returning Officer of NA-245.
The MQM-P leader said he has no role in the award of election tickets to party candidates, adding that he had given a list of the candidates of PIB faction to the Coordination Committee.
The Committee and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui picked candidates for the polls, he said and added, “I am not a selector. Selector is someone else.”
Sattar said Karachi’s population was understated to deprive it of its due share in the country’s financial resources. He said the metropolis which generates 60 to 70 per cent of the total revenue gets a paltry two per cent in return.
A day earlier, the MQM-P leader found himself caught between a rock and a hard place when an old man asked him a flurry of pungent questions in public.
The MQM-P leader turned a deaf ear to the acrid questions hurled by this unknown man while standing on staircase of Memon Masjid in Karachi after offering Friday prayers.
He reminded him of the recent past of the dominant political party of the megapolis when it was notorious for snatching hides of animals on gun-point during Eid-ul-Adha days.
