Cop booked for ‘raping’ woman in Sahiwal after promising her job

SAHIWAL: Police have booked and arrested one of their colleagues for allegedly raping a woman in Sahiwal, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Police officials said that the accused raped the woman after promising her job.

A police official said the case against the suspected rapist had been registered and he had also been taken into custody.

Further investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse against the cop has been underway, he added.

Meanwhile, in another case of sexual abuse, an 11-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted and raped in Sukkur in Sindh.

A member of the victim’s family said the boy has been admitted to Civil Hospital Sukkur in a critical condition.

The accused lured the child on the night of February 25 from a local market and subjected him to sexual assault.

The local police are awaiting the report of medical examination of the victim to register the case under relevant charges. However, the police have yet to made any arrest.

A large number of the cases of sexual abuse have come to the fore in the wake of the horrific rape and murder of Kasur’s little Zainab.

The incident blew the lid on the horrifying reality of how children in a brutalized society are vulnerable to the sexual abuse.
