Policeman among two killed in session court firing in Lahore

LAHORE: Two people, a policeman among them, were killed when armed men opened fire on them on the premises of a sessions court in Lahore on Wednesday.

According to the police, the policeman and suspect facing murder charges were coming out of a courtroom when the latter’s rivals opened fire on them, leaving them with fatal firearm wounds.

The accused died on the spot while the constable succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital.

The deceased were identified as police constable Asif and suspect Amjad Malik.

Following the incident of firing, a heavy contingent of police personnel arrived at the crime scene and cordoned it off.

A number of lawyers gathered on the premises of the court to protest against security lapse, demanding stringent security measures for the court.
