ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will receive its first purchase of 60,000 doses of a Chinese vaccine today, ARY News reported, quoting well-informed sources. The sources relayed that as many as 60,000 doses of single-dose CanSino Biologics vaccine will arrive at the Islamabad International Airport on board a commercial flight. This will be the fourth batch of Covid-19 vaccines to reach Pakistan. BEIJING: ECARX, an auto tech startup backed by Geely’s chairman and Baidu, plans to supply products with 7 nanometer (nm) chip as early as next year through its joint venture with Arm China, its chief executive told Reuters. ECARX, which was founded by its CEO Shen Ziyu and Geely Chairman Li Shufu in 2016, is focusing on technologies used in car chips, high-definition maps and smart vehicles. Shen, a former General Motors Co executive, told Reuters in an interview that ECARX’s joint venture with Arm China, Siengine, will start supplying the new chip products from the end of next year or early 2023. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd will manufacture the chips, Shen said. ECARX customers include brands owned or related to Geely group such as Lotus, Lynk & Co, Polestar, Smart and Volvo. The video was posted by an Indian police officer on Twitter which showed the man was trying to stand on a motorbike’s seat while riding it but loses balance and falls on his back. The flying experience of passengers on a Varanasi-bound SpiceJet flight turned into a nightmare when an unruly passenger allegedly tried to open the emergency exit door mid-air on Saturday. Explaining the incident, a SpiceJet spokesperson said, “An un-presidential incident happened on Saturday in Varanasi-bound SpiceJet flight. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded a steep rise in COVID-19 infections and mortalities as 100 more patients have died of coronavirus during the past 24 hours and 4,084 new cases were recorded, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) showed the COVID-19 has claimed 100 more lives and 4,084 fresh infections were reported during the period. During the period of a day, the total count of active cases was recorded at 48,566 and the positivity rate stood at 8.82 per cent. The health facilities across the country conducted 46,269 coronavirus detection tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10,153,364 since the first case was reported. KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the pre-arrest bail plea of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan in assets beyond income case, ARY News reported on Monday. The high court conducted the hearing of Manzoor Wassan’s plea against the probe initiated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in assets beyond income case. During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor told the court that it has been decided to close the inquiry against Manzoor Wassan and the recommendation was forwarded to the headquarters. The prosecutor added that a response was due to be made by the NAB headquarters. The high court gave time to NAB officials to submit their response.
